Those Three Words

To say those three words
seems only to cheapen
the phrase to
overused greeting card
sentiment

There are no words
to wrap around my heart
expressing yearnings
it feels for you

It is much more
then words
or even Victorian Romance
for it is a verb
the continuing actions
of a man
enslaved to the very sight
of you

Every thought drifts to you
fondly remembering
past conversations
and anxiously waiting new

you own my heart
my mind and soul
as I have yours
like a delicate flower
resting in the palm
of my hand

So when I say
those three words
Its only a mere shadow
of what I feel
and as real as the moment
the fateful day
your luscious lips touched mine
now since that day
nothing will ever
be the same
