    Creak and Bannister

I sip from a fragile cup
transparent  its whim is to shatter
but no  my lips curve into the warm
like afternoon in a room
where plants gather around the window
and the sun slants in and touches
the hardwood floor

I can hear the piano
delicate high notes sounding
like a yellow canary in spring
can almost feel the touch of fingertips
moving on my wrist like silk
I wait for the sound of an opening door
though I sit with my back straight
on wood that breaks my heart

I ask a silent question
into the room of whispers
and smell leather as if
as if it was somehow alive not air
and know her lips are still longing to draw
past struggle into the final exhale of smoke

The stairwell sounds
a memory etched cadence of descending feet
the instrument safely wrapped in a piece of cherish
and tied with the creak and banister of home

(sigh) Oh Martie, this is gorgeous, sweet friend, this made me smile as so many of your wonderful words do! (kiss on cheek) I love the piano and though my main love is guitar, ooohhh...the jazz you can make with playing it! (kiss on cheek) This is wonderful, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Martie, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Martie - this is so touching and runs like a film in my mind. Into the library it goes. Thankyou. Chris

Home.

And my muse?
Not amused that she
didn't help you write this...

but she's smiling,
all the same...

Such purity and simplicity....your crystal glass lets us see beyond into depths we wouldn't have seen without you.

Once again, thanks for lighting the way.

good grief....this is written with so much depth of emotion and expression...
such a bittersweet beauty my sweet poetess.

Where the touch of lovers end and the soul of friends begin,
there's a need to be separate and a need to be one ...
it's struggle neither wins.

Beautiful the way you light the room and fill it with the sweeping fragrance of familiar that lasts and lasts.

Your poetry breathes life!

Loved this Martie~

Before I even click on a title by you, a sense of nostalgia floods my being, followed by images of old lace and the scent of roses...Just thought I'd let you know...

Another treasure penned by you, Dear One.

Warm hugs and appreciative smiles,
