In the Cold Hard

Bittersweet the day,
snow touched,
freeze burned, the ground
prepared for you.

A day for a resting,
the secrets left untold,
buried deep within your mind,
in the cold hard.

An unveiling of feelings,
teared in silence
swallowing up the whole of you,
laying to rest, the darkness
that drowned the memories
of a small child once
in your hold.

Hey Sy, this was a poem about being buried today...a funeral. Although the sermon was one of warmth, I don't believe in this snow covered area, that I could have written it in and of a good mood. Thanks.

M

Nan, thank you. I don't do dark too well...but some days the light doesn't shine.

Sue, thank you. It's been a busy few days. I will catch up with you later hugs

~M~

Some of us have come to expect your writing to be about your love life, and we look for the symbols of such.

Good to see you writing of current, other events happening. Perhaps you have and I've missed them. Hard to read everyone's poems.

You are skilled enough that the layering is there...Had you not mentioned it in your replies, I could have come up with many concepts of this poem, none relating to a funeral.

I think that the sign of good writing, indeed.

Thank you for sharing your poetry here. I enjoy it.  Hugs, Pat

Excellent word usage here, Maureen. The title is perfect, also.

Sandra, I always wonder how they can dig  the plot in such frozen ground. It sure was cold and windy...

rk, I am happy that you enjoy my words. Thank you.

Vandana, always a pleasure to see you here.
