expectancy
of this breaking development
as I mocked
my relief
(gagging laughter)
disbelief
say it ain't so,
this just can't be...
nodding
"yes, I understand"
glad that she could not see
the evil grin upon my face.

Why certainly.
some other time
I know, I know.
it's such a shame...
hating my part in the game--

"perhaps next week."
choking on absurdity
knowing that oh-yes-indeed,

Maybe just to change the scene?
