Tomfoolery*

If I spit into a shoe,
kindly hand it to you,
and say, "How do you do?"

would you be fooled into thinking
that I am not
what you're thinking,
that maybe it's your blinking,
and that I really
just spat into a bowl?
For, how could've I been doing
what you thought
I was doing,
how could've I been shoeing
such spittle at you?
For reason always makes
much more sensible dictates.

If that is
what you think (and I should,
if I may, comment that this day
is really not near to that day
of spontaneous idiocy, April Fool's)
then you must
(and certainly you must)
find yourself in a bit of a bind.

For whenever you're tricked,
by a bit of a blink
and a lack of a thought,
when a bind and dictates
make a bowl and a find,
then certainly I think
(and Maestro, drum roll)
you're a fool.

*I apologize for the ridiculosity of this poem.~Streen
