It is the fade of morning
I regret the most.
That time when you
Bathed in soft light
Sleep unawares
Of me memorizing
The outlines of your face.

Sometimes,
I will touch your cheek
Just one finger
To know you
Are real

Know it is true
You are here.

You rustle in turn,
Crisp cotton comfort
Covering shoulders
I would kiss awake
Rolls away the years
And I am awed
Again

As sun changes
And day drives demands
We are again separate
And I am left
Regretting
The morning fade
But filled
With
You

well this is just a sigh waiting to happen...
soft and subtly sensual...very lovely poet sir. Love that opening verse....the first line pulls the reading in.

Where the touch of lovers end and the soul of friends begin,
there's a need to be separate and a need to be one ...
it's struggle neither wins.

This is love at it's best. One person not just in love with another, but deeply loving another...gives me shivers....another great love poem, you write so well. Enjoyed,

Pat

Someone said the first line sucks the reader in. Hell, I want to marry you!!!

Excellant work, powerful and beautiful.
