Take me back to yesterday, or even the days before
to sunshine and to happiness and maybe something more
Today is not my day you know, today is dark and gray
and even if you smile at me, I won't come out to play

Take me back to yesterday, when I was a little child
I could roam the pastures then, full of flowers wild
Today is not my day you know, for pastures are no more
large buildings placed on land you see, wich was green before

Take me back to yesterday, when loved ones weren't dead
when I could hear them talking real, not only in my head
Today is not my day you know, my head is full of voices
constant ordering me around, I have to make some choices

Take me back to yesterday and I'll just skip tomorrow
and maybe I forget about the gray and dark and sorrow
Today is not my day you know, but you can change that fast
if you'll take me back to yesterday, I'm sure I'll make it last

Like scattered leaves...my words will flow

(tears fall down my cheeks) Oh Titia, I too wish I go back and live those times, sweet friend, the world feels so gray right now with the warring and greed going on and if I had one wish it would be to get to live in those days! (big hugggssssssss) This is very heartfelt, sweet friend, I'm voting for this, yay, we all love you so much, God Bless You! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Titia, thank you for sharing!

Mayn love and light always shine upon you!

You know I could never write a poem about how "today is not my day," 'cause on those days, I really can't write quality poetry.  If you can then, wow, you get my admiration.  Not to mention, my vote.

You brought me back to yesterday with your poem!

Indubitably! Frequently do I miss those days of freedom, choice, and quintessence. It seems in times like these there certainly is only an iota of this and that I wish for relief to follow as soon as possible! Till then I will pray alongside and dream of yesterday! Excellent!

I love it! I certainly have had a few days myself that I would have liked to have traded for a few of my yesterdays---but since they are gone, I'll hope for bright tomorrows! Great poem--and the rhythm and flow made it a pleasure to read!

Warm hugs,
Linda

I'm having good luck with Dutch ladies' poetry this morning! This the second I've read, and the second stellar performance.

yes, we always long for yesterday. But yesterday had yesterday pain. Old days had lots decease that can't be treated. There was slavary, there were more wars, inequality, less chances for education, etc. If long for the past, why not look forward? And enjoy the park that we still have? Nice poem. I know what u mean.
