~* Maker of Butterflies *~

Two fairies danced in the dew of the dawn
As the sun chased shadows of night off the lawn
The one was a maker of dreamer’s dreams
The other was a weaver of butterfly wings

The first one knows what caterpillars dream
And sews golden silk with a wide black seam
The second fairy waits as the butterfly blooms
And dresses her up with the bright petal plumes

Then powders her wings with a fairy dust
And the fairies dance in the dew of the dusk
For the day is done and the task complete
And joy fills the shoes of their dancing feet

But somehow they noticed on a warm spring day
The beautiful butterflies had all gone away
For the butterflies fell into butterfly nets
As bright souvenirs and butterfly pets

So the fairies gathered in the dew of the lawn
And decided to correct what was now going wrong
Singing butterfly songs to the children at night
To teach them to treat all the butterflies right

They said the beauty of a butterfly wing
Is a very precious and fragile thing
You can get more pleasure in your little eye
By allowing the butterfly wings to fly

Then the children watched a magical scene
A transformation on a milk weed’s green
Where an egg was placed and a caterpillars spawned
And two fairies dance in the dew of the dawn

Oh, Elizabeth, I really do wish that you could
get a book published and put your graphics
in with the poems.......

I wish I could put graphics on here.
Nancy Lee told me exactly how, but
I still can't seem to do it. I'm doing
some little something wrong...

loner. THank you so much

Mysteria, OH WOW! I was so startled when I opened this post this morning to find you had made a virtual children's book out of my poem. The graphics fit exactly to the theme of the poem. Bravo to you! and a humble thank you.

Noah, Thank you for the butterfly fairy and for your kind words!

James
Thank you!

Ethel, THanks, dear, I don't know how to do graphics either but I have a fairy who does them for me

passing shadows, I understand, fairies and butterflies are attracted to the eye
Thank you!

The nice thing about fairytales,
and writers of fairytales,
is that they can be shared,
with young and old...
girl and boy...

alike...

Elizabeth, may I share this with my grandchildren?

Liz, what an enchanted and wonderful fairy tale for this morning and always.
A keeper to be read and reread.
The graphics are fantastic only bettered by your words.

You are such an incredible writer dear lady.
It is always an honor to read your pieces.

You just blew my mind. I wrote a fairytale very much like this--

(I've been thinking of posting it in prose but it needs so much work I get tired just thinking about it.)

But? I wrote mine when I was pregnant....

OH. LIZ? naw...

Thanks for this one--written with a magick wand.

Wonderful spell you wove. Very beautiful, and pure fantasy, my favourite genre. Such a magical image your paint...or maybe conjure?
