Inside the shadow's shadow

Damnation
Struggles at my soul
Reaching for the words you breathed
Alone, weren't you cold?

Struggling to ease off your shoulder
And onto my own feet
I stumble to the broken ledge
Was this your dirty treat?

Searching blindly for those words
You had whispered tenderly
Your hand had reached through the cobwebs
And said the words I ached for desperately.

My body's warmed this floor.
Your eyes have my soul glazed
With tiny droplets of ice
Where you once loved and praised.

Alone
I will wait for you here
Searching for the words
My body trembles, aches, to hear.
Once
Again

I do not know whether I was then a man dreaming I was a butterfly, or whether I am now a butterfly dreaming I am a man.
