I sit alone beneath the sun
On this perfect Summer's day
My life hasn't been the same
Since the day you passed away

As I stare across still waters
I hear a seagull's mournful cry
My heart still feels so empty
As the days move slowly by

So lost I am without you
But my love stays ever clear
When I close my eyes at night
I imagine that you're here

You were taken from me so quickly
I was not with you when you died
My heart lay torn and tattered
And a sea of tears were cried

Thoughts of you are always with me
And my memory remains so strong
I still miss your loving presence
Some days can be so long

The sun starts sinking lower
As this day comes to an end
My life's moved on without you
But my heart will never mend

The gulls take flight, the moon is full
As I turn and walk towards the hill
I stand and let the moon reflect
On times we had, I'll never forget
Your guiding light shines down on me
You're part of the moon, the sun and the sea

This is a rewritten version of the
first poem I ever wrote, just on two
years ago.My words describe the
great sense of loss I felt at losing
my father to asbestos cancer in 1999.
To this day he is still the driving
force behind my writing.

* * * *

One word frees us
of all the weight
and pain of life,
That word is love.

I am in motion
I am blue
Love is an ocean
I'm anchored in you

Sue, how fortunate you were to have a father you loved so deeply and can write about. He was a very lucky man to have a daughter like you. How proud he is as he shines down on you.

(tears fall down my cheeks) God Bless You, sweet friend, my heart cries out to your dear fathers loss also but I know with all my heart his love will always be the light of the stars, the whispers of the ocean, every blooming flower of spring and the perfume of the lilacs! (BIG ANGEL HUGS) He will always be the voice in your heart, telling you he loves you and the angel whisper, you are his poetess and little angel, so continue to write for him as you truly are a golden-hearted angel of words:

(wipes tears) God Bless You, sweet friend, I most graciously offer you my proud vote and angel hugs, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Sue, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

Sue darling heart sometimes I lose my way to the light and seem to wander in darkness for an eternity. But when I do, and of late I really do, I know that your words will shine the light that signals the way home. Thank you for this delightful gem darling one it is utterly utterly wonderful. I will try to come in more often, its just right now it is really difficult, sometimes a pain is better not shared, it simply hurts too much. But be assured that when I do find my way here it is your work I’ll cling. Yes this is exactly how it is, the shock, the loss, I truly feel bereft of his presence. You are an amazing writer thank you for this and yes you have my vote

Yes. The first write, the inspiration for writing...definitely book material. We are all enriched by your depth of love for your father, and this is a wonderful way for all of us to thank him for gifting us such a wonderful poet.
