    Anticipating Rain

Hear the method of repair
the air is filled with a low hum
across the nape of winter’s naked trees
I feel like I still hold the leaves
the weight like feathers now
anticipating rain

No the fabric will not remain so quiet
it will touch me until I am clogged
and then as I am released from my hold
it will steady this quill forsaken
and a season will grow within the ditch
soon dimple the overflow off curb
awash within the noisy gutters rise
until I can at last lay down a word of me

that flows down the cement river
          to the sea

...all of it....

My mother-in-law, 94, often says...
where will the rain go
when it doesn't have the ground
to fall in to?

and I remember
the cement rivers....

Wow.

Read you loud and clear on this....and I love your singularly beautiful and meaningful way of saying it.

I'm keeping this one, my friend.

The stars will shine when I am gone,
the earth will turn on as before,
the gulls, still race along the shore,
the morning star, still kiss the dawn

(big hugggssssss) Oh Martie, this is so very wonderful, sweet friend, I anticipate the rain ever so much as we are in the worst drought situation in state history, can I have some water? (smiles) This is gorgeous, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Martie, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Your song is still as fresh as the spring.
Also nice of you to ask of my poetry. a new
site is in the making as I speak... New
domain sever... Hard work... new poetry
and old... haiku and senyru pages as well
as photos. I'm excited, my poetry pages
have been off of "crossing rivers" for much

I do so love the way your mind works and the things you find your inspiration in.

there's a need to be separate and a need to be one ...
it's struggle neither wins.
