Camelot

It's hard to breathe here.
The air stands heavy;
trees hold in the hanging
vapors of plowed
earth, and the moat
stinks through the summer,
especially after a siege.
Could we have known
then, tending our sheep
on the fallow downs,
how we would live,
and what we would
now trade for a day
of simple sunlight,
shining clouds, cold
sibilant wind and the
distant barking of a dog?

Aye, and I, for one, often see
too much good even in the worst light...
so this brings to me the other side
of the coin, and some thoughtful
ponderings.

Thank you, Ed...

these lines... set up much of being in a place of safety..that also confines...

enjoyed this.. thoughtful..and in excerpt form such as this..makes the reader ponder both sides of what inspired..

Ratleader - although I don't like to think of Camelot times that way, it is something to ponder. Well done. Chris

I picture 'em being stuck there all kingly and knightly, and utterly sick of it.....

Ed...Even though the feeling is from somewhere of another time, it is also so modern.

that once there was a spot..
For one brief shining moment
that was known as Camelot.'
