I stood strong, anchored
in my beliefs.

Beset to the utmost,
I refused to give in.

Somehow the madness
found mes till not
withstanding.

Memories sleet painfully;
I have lost my anchor.
Downward drowning;
I am swept away.

Your words suck strength
and gain momentum,
swirling bits and pieces of misery
stinging eyes that won’t shut and
defeating defenseless ears.

My foundation is shaken;
naught is left standing.

I clutch at the void
that surrounds but struggling is
useless for the realm of
comfort no longer
exists.

I have reached beyond anguish.
Alarms scream loudly.

I do not hear them;
my ears have closed tight.

Not another sound
will be allowed
to enter to
this disquiet...

Father to you I now reach,
take this darkness-take this storm from me.
Permit me your perfect peace;
grant me shelter in your arms.

JB,

YES!  This is as it should be. Well, it touched me deeply. I like this so very much. Why have you not offered it for a submission to the book? It is excellent.

Hugs, Pat

ah dear friend... the anguish and torment of struggles... and trying to release them to something greater..when our own is not enough...and the something greater itself..seems not to be enough..but all we have...

very well done..  hugs... for the struggles.

This is bone-chilling in its intensity... which makes the seque to the prayer even more dramatic... and makes the reader ache to have the prayer heard and answered.

Excellent work, gal... as always. *S*

Clutching at the void
that surrounds me, struggles
are but a waste,
for the realm of
comfort no longer
exists.

...

Permit me your perfect peace;
grant me shelter in your arms.

Sometimes, all we can pray for
is the quiet by which
to be heard...

Well done, little one...

JB, this is really a touching poem. It brought me to tears, it is so real. I have felt this many times, when the sound of silence would have been so welcome. Why can't people realize how deeply words hurt, and how long it takes the scars from those hurts to heal? I wonder though, if it would matter to the person throwing those words out?!?

Heart Hugs from
Ethel
