My soul was empty
so I poured into it all of my hard work
and the toils of the earth

This filled my soul
but it was unclean from the labor within
what could I do to change my feelings of
vast loneliness deep inside my skin

So I searched and found some seeds of hope
and intellectual thought
yet it appeared to be all for naught
because not one seed grew inside of me

I was saddened and asked for my sins
to be washed away
in that baptism was a birth
a new growth from the seed to a root
until it sprouted up and broke through my past dirt

The seed of hope rising to the light
almost over night
STRETCHING, REACHING, NEEDING
the bright sky

all this from an empty vessel to a cup of dirt followed by seed not a thing would spurt
until the earth was wet with the water of life
giving to the seed allowing it to grow in the soil made of original toil and to break
through

Passing the rim
Up and Up
No Longer will I be the

EMPTY CUP

I very much enjoyed this poem.

Sometimes we have to follow a stronger voice, even if it's silent.

i like the sentiments presented here...what makes this piece more impressive is that i'm not someone particularly spiritual but this fascinated me
