Where is my magick bag of flash--
it's time to grease the lips of clown.
Avert the eyes that seek concern.
Procession of the grave's tap dance.
I slip the scissors in the fold
of this spinning patchwork skirt.
I am but the marionette
intention's veils are carved in wood.

I will dance yet one more day--
but no more fortunes will be told.
I've bled the snake of all his oil--
this road no longer sparks allure.

I will cut these strings myself,
even as I fear the fall.
I've hit the ground before, you know.
I proudly boast a brushburn's scar.
Drop the curtain on this stage--
I will not bother to return
to take a bow on center mark--
save roses for the gypsy's grave.

And should there be some puzzlement--
No this is no trap door trick.

Tell them all that I went home.
To plant a garden by my door.
Tell them that the show is done.
The gypsy will not dance for coin.

(please note that I am aware there may be some confusion as to my choice(s) of metaphor. This is a poem about CHOICES made to direct one's LIFE. smile--didn't come this far to do m'self in, thank you much.)

Yes, Karen, you are a very good writer. You have an amazing way with words......
.
.
By the way, the thought never crossed my mind that you had any thought whatsoever of "doing yourself in".....LOL
Our little Serenity Witchey is having too much fun in life to do that.......

Heart Hugs,

I love your style and panache as well as your interesting use of words and metaphors.
There's an intelligence that comes shining through all your writing--that is probably why I often have to read your poems twice--to make sure I understand what you are trying to say! lol

(smiles) Oh Karen, yes, you are no marionette, you are REAL, and therefore you are free to follow your heart and your sanctuary is not Gepetto's Workshop but your heart! (kiss on cheek) I love this, sweet friend, you rock, yay, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Karen, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

I just love this. And, grinning at your comments. And, no matter where or what kind of garden planted, I am sure it will thrive.

serenity - dance gypsy dance! There is no need for audience or payment....just twirl those colourful skirts and listen to the tinkle of your bracelets. Great write once again. Chris

I thoroughly enjoyed your comment... but this is such a remarkable statement of power and taking control... and I simply can't imagine you ever opting out... there's too much fight in you. *S* Excellent work... enjoy that garden! *S* (Just be careful... I happen to know a few folks who "borrow" freely from others' labors! LOL)
