Phobic

the taste of fear
grows stronger
than the courage needed
to overcome it

the feel of anxiety
eases into each morning
the edginess agitating
my desires

the field of vision
limited, perception distorted,
the gray shadowing
happiness

today, I am a ghost of myself,
stalking the mirrored image,
seeking the voice of reason

I think that fear can dwarf every other sensation, when the source is imminent. This is a nice comment on an emotion we all have.

Through rubble and trouble and dark of night
The yawn of a dawn will hasten the light
