A Flower
A sweet red rose
What a transformation
Through which it goes.
On their slim throats
With hue of passion
Stands silent grace,
Like elegant fashion.
The night shades and reshades-
Come day, and then the go,
Their beauty slowly fades-
They hang their heads...
As if they know.
They wilt and weep
Like lovers lost-
Who'll risk and leap
At any cost
And the shell of what
They used to be
Holds such
Intricate simplicity.

The comparison between
the life of a flower
and the life of a love
was very nice. *s

Shades and reshades.....that's one sweet transitional image. Darn, I wish I'd thought of that!

You have an excellent feel for the way a poem needs to move within its frame. I'll look forward to seeing more from you.

welcome to Passions, I really love this poem, it describes my favorite flower so perfectly.

Fauxreal,
I don't know how
I missed seeing you on
here when you first came. I'm
sorry that I didn't welcome you
properly before now, but I am now...

By the way, I really enjoyed reading this poem
and I hope that you enjoy it here amongst
this great big family of friends here
at Passions In Poetry.
