A Mote to Cross

There is a mote my mind would cross
Brackish water and gray of dross
It flows around a castles wall
That rises black and endless tall.

It is a phantom of my past
A spirit born in freedoms cast
A freedom only youth could spend
A freedom thoughtless of its end

It taunts me in its web and sigh
And haunts me in its very lie.
It plays upon a stage conceived
The answer of a rage believed.

The billing is alike each night
And plays until the sight of light
The dialogue remains the same
And stings me with its whips of shame.

How long live the dogs of store?
I could not stand forevermore.

It seems to me the bill of play
escapes the light of early day,
the marquee by night in light
shadows early thoughts of bright...

but the moon hangs great in wait,
so you may cross yon castle's gate,
entering into one more fantasy,
where all is as it should be...

In that castle is kept a martyred maiden fair...
with flowing tresses of glowing golden hair.
Held against her will by dragons deed ...
captive to his bleed of greed and need.

Each night on silvered star light, she has just one wish ...
to be swept in sway by her poetic prince's cadenced kiss.
For you see ... 'tis only he whom can set her fancy free ...
only he holds the key of both she and the dragon's destiny.

Will he cross the metered mote of his mind and pen her a venial verse ...
with gifted quill of rhyme, a dragon redefined would free her from this curse.

LOL...so far to go for so little...
tis much too early to rhyme

not too early for tea and winkies tho

Good morning, Mr. T!

You have peaked my interest--once again! I am wondering what that mote might be!
Beautifully written, dear Sonneteer!

And to you I say, top of the morning today.

Sunshine
That is true, that is true for my love is you.

Sunkissed
And ditto to you. LOL

Nancy,
Chai tea would be devine, hugs

JM,
Valentine

I tried to write a valentine.
To weigh the phantom that is mine.
And Randy blew his firelight
Throughout the dark and lonely night

But spirits would not stay the cage.
Of light on white upon the page
For ecstasy is much to light
To stay upon a page of write

It hovered just beyond the state
And much too fragile in its wait
It stays within a mind of care
And will not form in self-aware.

So I am left a simple write
With simple words for your delight
Like would you be my valentine
Without the weight of pure sublime

It is a funny valentine
And only says will you be mine.

OK..so the moth was wrong...LOL

Tis apparently never too early to rhyme ...
not when the poet's pen is deemed divine.
Thy Valetine is sweeter than fine wine ...
sways a moth in sighs and sequesters sublime.

To the cadenced query of "will you be mine?"
of what you wish ... was yours all the time.

Wow Sy.  Waking up to a blizzard and this somewhat unsettling write...is it too late to go back to bed???
