Inside the shadow's shadow

0 posted 2003-02-15 08:53 AM

The star twinkles, shivers, winks
Down upon me in such a way-
A way that makes me think
It died for just a moment, right in front of my eyes
Something that happens to us
In every one of our lives.

We die for just one second
(You can trust the one who said it)
When emotion reaches its highest
(Yet perhaps I could be biased)
The explosion is too great
For our bodies to debate:
Are they reborn or do they die,
Do they laugh or do they cry?

And so for just one moment we,
(As do the air, the moon, the sea)
Twinkle, shiver and wink
And for a moment we don't think
Of yester and morrow thoughts
That make us selfish and distraught.
In an instant we greet death
And awake on Baby's Breath.
