where the sky and horizon meet

Hi helpful people    I was really looking forward to being able to incorporate graphics with some of my poems but I've since become very frustrated because it's not as easy as it looks!  I joined a website that allows me to store my pictures there but now I'm having trouble linking to the pictures.  I understand how to do it if it's your website because you know all the subfolders and the filename and what-not...but what happens when it's another website?  And I am allowed to link to a site like that right??

Any advice would be wonderful!  Here's my attempt if that helps any:

Thanks!

The address is wrong....when I click on it, I get the main page for the site and must use a password to access it. I'll keep trying...

Ok...I've tried...it doesn't work..there is no .jpg or .gif extension for the picture...

Yeah...so any ideas on how to get the correct address?  I've tried opening the picture on the site and using the address of that and then I've also tried clicking on the "properties" of the picture and getting the address that way.....so I'm at a loss!

Thanks for trying

As for linking to a picture on another site, that is considered stealing bandwith, and most people or web sites don't approve that.

Geocities is one of them. After I finally put my pictures up there to link to them,  they decided to put a stop to it. So if Geocities is one of those, it just won't work. They've put a block on it, and the picture (like above) just won't show up.

Hope that was of some help.

Try right clicking on the picture to see if you can save it. When it comes up, see what name it saves it as, and what type of graphic.  GIF? JPEG?

Then use the site name (html) and add in the name of the graphic and the ext.

WhtDove~ I have come to realize it is really not an easy thing to post graphics here at all!  I don't want to break any rules so I'll probably find a site somewhere where I *know* that I can link to the graphic.  I don't know about the site I'm currently using.  Thanks for the suggestions, I will certainly try the picture name and file type extension when I finally find somewhere to link to!     As it stands, I'm pretty fed up with the whole idea so I'll probably just stick to posting without pictures for awhile

Thank you all for your suggestions
