How would one go about embedding HTML into an email message? I figure there MUST be something, since all I seem to end up with is the code...?

I don't have any plans on using it for my mailing list or anything, but it would be helpful for a few of the things that get sent to me.

Thanks,

C

This likely isn't the best forum for this, because it's MUCH more involved than it looks. Essentially, each email includes headers preceding the actual message, and that is where you indicate the Mime type. If your email client allows you to examine the full header (most do), look for "Content-Type" for both a plain-text message and an HTML formatted message - and you'll see quite a large difference.

I've been working on a CGI script so we could start offering Digital Passions in an either/or version. It is NOT a simple process…

ah

yuck

the program i use for my bulk emails has an option to use html or text based - would it be helpful for you to see the code?

uhmm... i looked at the source of a couple of html emails, and see... nada. the code is there of course, but i don't see anything different from what you'd see on a regular web page - i use ms outlook. *shrug* could you perhaps point me toward a few resources? you can guess what kind of response i get when i run a search on html & email!

Thanks, Chris, but I have LOTS of source code to look at already. Too much.   (I'm dealing more with the logistics of allowing people to select various options, one of which will be HTML issues, in our existing subscriber database.)

You're pushing my memory, but I think if you right-click on a message in Outlook and call up the Properties sheet for it, the "Details" tab will show you the headers.

Here's some of those resources (and you're going to be sorry you asked…) :
