That every man sholde have y-liche his part
As of the soun and savour of a fart? "

Thanks, Ess, I love learning new words. Would never have guessed the meaning of y-liche. Haven't read Chaucer yet, tried a couple of times, didn't get very far.

Not a quote but a poem: http://www.coppercanyonpress.org/300_reading_room/reading_room.cfm

Oops, sorry. The poem changes everytime you click. Anyway, good reads at Copper Canyon no matter which poem pops up when you click. Don't think you'll be disappointed.

Came back to snicker. Since I still get that Inappropriate Content notice when I try to use a word that means to "snicker"--the word starts with an ess and rhymes with N-word.

*shrugz*

Loved the mandela quote.

Hey guys, I have to post a quote but it has nothing to do with what you've been saying so don't take it personally. Another situation has come up and I need to vent.

I apologize, Jen. Didn't mean to hijack your thread, but if my side journey prompted you to post that quote, then it was worth it.

For me, anyhow.

(as for the snickering thing? I dunno. I was genuinely perplexed by what I'd done wrong. I quite often AM.)

"The two greatest obstacles to democracy in the United States are, first, the widespread delusion among the poor that we have a democracy, and second, the chronic terror among the rich, lest we get it."

"For many years now, you and I have been shushed like children and told there are no simple answers to the complex problems which are beyond our comprehension. Well, the truth is, there are simple answers, they just are not easy ones. The time has come for us to decide whether collectively we can afford everything and anything we think of simply because we think of it. The time has come to run a check to see if all the services government provides were in answer to demands or were just goodies dreamed up for our supposed betterment. The time has come to match outgo to income, instead of always doing it the other way around." --Ronald Reagan
