Just wonderin what the accepted policy is for this. I posted a reply to a poem and in the reply to my reply was over 150 lines of poetry. Is that  appropriate?. Considering we do have a 3 poem limit to posting our work this seems like a devious way to get more of our work seen to me. Just curious.

Good grief! It really doesn't make any sense for him to do that, since only people going to that thread will read them. Do we have the rule of how many poems can be posted in a day?

Tom Zart's response was probably out of line, though I can think of no rule it breaks. Your response was also out of line, and did break a few rules.

Both responses have been edited accordingly.

Yeah I see now that Mr. Zart didn't ask for any critiques for his poetry and that was my bad. I will make sure i watch for the this in the future. For that reason I see why it had to be removed. As far as the content of the critique, I felt it was spot on and stand by it. I commented on ... [Edit This critique is being removed, too. - Ron]

Anyways I am sorry for the critique I will watch for this in the future.

Ps. Not to be a pain in the backside. but Mr. Zart did the same type of reply in this THEY SERVE TO PRESERVE entry At Spiritual Journeys.

The software enforces a policy of three originating threads per day in the poetry and prose forums. It is site wide, not per forum, and applies only to poetry and prose. There is no rule on how many poems you can post in one day, and there's certainly no rule that would discourage poetic replies.

No rules. Just common sense and courtesy.

Ron, lol let me get this straight in my head buddy.

The software clearly states and i cut and paste here "You may post only 3 poems or stories each calendar day." I don't think you could cause any more confusion if you tried on that one. Reading your explanation in your reply you say it applies to  "three originating threads per day in the poetry and prose forums" Since these forums are ONLY for poems and prose posts and not discussion per the outlined rules I would say all "originatiing threads" = poems and poetry in those forums.
So I am confused as to just where one would post these umlimited number of poems you say are allowed?

quote:
You may post only 3 poems or stories each calendar day.

The only time you'll see those words that way is when you are posting a new topic in a poetry forum. You won't see them when you post a new topic in a discussion forum (like this one), or in a workshop. Nor will you see them when you're posting a reply, even if that reply is in a poetry forum. Those words, in short, need to be taken in context.

There is a long-standing tradition in the forums of poetic repartee within a thread, where individuals reply (usually poking fun at each other) in verse. I suspect we could find threads in the Archives with dozens and perhaps even hundreds of "poems" sprinkled throughout. Our rules were never meant to limit how people can reply. We're just glad that they do.

Nonetheless, you are probably right that the three-threads-per-day could be more clear. I'll work on that. In this case, however, it certainly doesn't apply. Tom Zart is making his own threads load more slowly and using forum resources to no good purpose, but he's really not hurting you or any other Member. It's not a big deal.

To me, I believe the posting only three a day is that of filling the website and taking lots of space. I dont think that Ron set it up so that people dont post more so the site isn't just filled with a certain persons name and poetry. A poet shouldn't be stopped, am I right?
