I would like to poll people about the suggestion of a new and improved "critical" forum that we spoke about in the other thread.  A forum that could perhaps be called "Interpretations".  But this poll is meant only for those that weren't the ones that brought up the suggestion.    I don't think any of the suggestionbearers wish to bear it any further if it doesn't have any support beyond themselves.  It wasn't brought up more for the interests of those that brought it up than for an interest and activity we thought extends further, to quite a few others too, and with an importance similar for which the Critical Analysis was begun to begin with, but with even more because this one would have a lesson to learn from that one and a promise, nor without the practice, to be better.   I hope others such as Serenity, Brad, Pete, Sunshine, Balladeer, Ron himself and anyone else that finds this may post a "yes" to it or "no" to it (with or without an explanation) to let us know if there is any support for the idea or if it belongs in the rubbish bin.

Just a small comment Ess.

I don't think this approach is going to work very well.  There have never been that many people interested in CA, probably for the very reasons we've been discussing as problems in the other thread, and accordingly I wouldn't expect to see much interest in this poll or in restarting a forum.

No, the only way CA or something like it will begin again is by convincing Ron to give it a shot, with a combination of:

1 Cooling off time/pause for thought.

2 Demonstration. (As Bob is now doing here in the Alley)

3 Constructive suggestion. (As I hope we have been doing in the other thread)

I think the best thing we can do right now is continue putting forward any new useful ideas, support what Bob is doing as much as possible, and, above all, give Ron lots of time.

Moonbeam

This is not about Critical Analysis being popular, or trying to hasten Ron, but about seeing if there is any support beyond just ourselves.  You really think we should continue if no one else shows any support of it, not even Brad and Pete?   You may go ahead, Moonbeam. But if no yes's gather in this thread, I feel that is an obvious enough signal for not trying to push it any further.  There is no point in going on about something that has no support.

Ess,

I think there has to be something like CA here (but not CA).

I have ideas, I just don't know which one is worth trying yet.

It's still thinking time.

Thanks for speaking out, Brad.

That was the part I was wondering about:  If the general idea itself was supported by other members.

It shall take much time to think out and work out such a forum.  But with your support there is inspiration to continue thinking it out and putting forth ideas.

Here is something I will just throw out that might not have been taken into consideration:

I never really participated in CA, however, I did read and learn from it.

I am a chronic lurker.  I don't say a lot but I am here, reading and absorbing.

I bet there are more than just me.

Susan,

Many people spent a lot of time working hard.

You didn't have to agree, you just had to accept that different people had different ways.

Thank you,

Brad

PS Always thought you should have been with us.

Susan thanks for that.  Hopefully you are right about there being more.  And next time round maybe we can tempt you all in

Ess, what Susan said kind of echoes what I think:  that there are people out there who would be interested once they saw something up and running and working well, but they might not necessarily stand up and be counted until it was so running.  Hence my reason for not giving up just because not many respond to this thread.

Yes, that is part of it, Moonbeam.  But there also needs to be the part that gets it running to begin with, of course.   Anyway, it was very gladdening to see someone (Susan) mention a positive experience for once.  I also have a suspician that there may be some others like that.

Good to see Serenity's voice show up too.  Your witchcraft may be the key to unlocking Ron's mind

*laughing*

no

I'm just aware enough to know I don't know Ron's mind.

But if I err? I err to the side of kindness.

I believe Ron is a kind man.

I think that's enough.

No problem Ess.

I like yes or no questions, they’re so easy to answer.

It may not be as easy for some Grinch.  For example, if someone that kept coming back to CA  remember why he/she kept coming back, that might be something more than affords an easy "no" to the general idea.  But I guess answering the question was a bit different for you.  And I respect that, even if it seems contrary to how you treated it when it was available to you as a forum to enjoy in one way or another.

Ess - This is the problem with simple polls.  You open the door to a precise and concise answer to a precise and concise question, when you neither wanted to ask an exact question, nor did you want an exact answer. Grinch probably doesn't want to answer "no" to the question you probably wanted to ask.

I doubt Grinch misunderstood the context.  No generally means no.

I wasn't talking about context, but about complexity.
