Please spare me the morons of the world who arm themselves with jackhammers, electric saws, leaf blowers, and YES--AMPLIFIERS.

I understand, and appreciate very much, the home improvement guys. I realize that cool(er) weather in New Orleans is hard to come by--but folks? I've been watching this idiot for four hours now. (The one with the jackhammer.)

I swear he is in the same damned spot.

I think he's trying to make gravel.

HE IS DRIVING ME NUTS.

Call it a day already!

Just...STOP IT STOP IT STOP IT.

He's out there with one other guy, and yanno? There's a trick to using jackhammers--TRY CRACKING THE CONCRETE FIRST, y'IDJIT.

My brother's crews could take out a driveway in two hours--with a CREW. Ya'll know--like, with pry bars, sledgehammers, and SWEAT.

I'm convinced the entire neighborhood has been smoking meth.

I hate it here.

(I added the amplifiers because it occurs to me that as soon as it is too dark to work? My son will be home...and he just acquired some dandy stadium style amp...)

oy

I exit, twitching.

ah...and yeah, yeah, I KNOW.

"God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference."

The second part is quoted less often--

"Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.
Amen."

--Reinhold Niebuhr

serenity...blaze, mind you.

And honestly folks, the jackhammer thingie works much better if you lean into it.

And yes, I DO know. (Not all of my jobs that I had under the table were literally under the table.)

This is me--the one who says you must try everything twice.

I confess my jackhammer experience was only once--and for less than a minute. Not because I didn't WANNA continue, the crew was wisely cavalier about putting me on clean up detail. *smile*

And lawsy--now my neighbor is working on the sound studio again...this thing is to be located right outside my window..

I'm tempted to tell him I'll kiss his hairy butt on Youtube if he accomplishes that.

It might not work, but he'll try harder.

Now.

I'm off to oil hinges on all the doors in the house.

I've got a headache.

Aw, Suze. *hugs*

Iraq???

Lawsy, woman. I'll try to fetch supper early tonight. (I'm sick of this gig, too.) Call me.

Or I'll call you? Er....eightish?

And I've told ya before? When you want your kids to leave you alone, buy a hubcap house in Tennessee.

Just the word "Arkansas" put fear into my little urban repro's.

Judging by your name alone, you've found the right thread. *chuckle*

Too much coffee was yesterday's problem.

And oh, an update.

They're still at it. IN THE RAIN.

Things are good. It's not raining, but I can probably make lightning happen. Susan, I thought you knew I owned an imp or two within the confines of my skin...I can get a little ornery myself when conditions are right.

I've got my "stuff" at the office straightened out so that between now and 11/21, I should be "winding down" so I can get out of town for a couple of weeks. You'll all get photos...

Serenity, I wouldn't touch LA!

Y'know, for some reason that's one movie I couldn't ever get into.

But I could probably watch "In The Garden of Good & Evil" over and over and over...

Hi dere.  Even though I never get irritable unless I'm off my meds, I have been irked of late by my neighbor.  Alhough he seems in many ways to be rational, he is, unfortunately, a rock hound.

Apparently, his hobby requires running three industrial strength rock tumblers 8 hours a day, five days a week, turning perfectly decent lumpy rocks into perfectly stupid round rocks for sale on eBay.  We get a break on the weekends when he goes off to collect more rocks.

I have offered to take him to Arizona and show him where and how to mine turqouise.  One mines turquoise by augering several holes in the desert, inserting dynamite, blowing up a sizeable patch of earth, then picking through the debris.  My only condition is that I get to tell him where to stand.

I'm not sure that's legal.  I think you can't dynamite for turquoise in the desert anymore.  Has somthing to do with the desert tortoise.  Rockhounds, on the other hand, are not an endangered species.

Perhaps the Pantheress could send him a brochure on the beauty of life in Coober Pedy.  Now THAT'S an underground economy!

Best, Jimbeaux
