Putin is one form of superior being

And I doubt you`d have the guts to ask him that directly, he`d destroy you in one look.

He`s a fox, a monster

He has his cryptonite but talking about it here is pointless...

I think he wants a kind of Russian Monroe Doctrine.

It's our backyard, don't mess with it.

I think the matter is somewhat more complex than just Russian foreighn policy.

I`m surmising that he might be one of the SOUL Cathchers in the Russian Rye Fields.

And I`m not kidding, Living in Finland I sense his presence.

I think Putin wants to corner the market on
the anti US mania which wins him instant popularity
in his home country and costs him virtually nothing,
He has been in a recent campaign of showing his population
a strong macho character and I think his recent actions are a part of
that.  "Vladimir the Great" isn’t that far fetched.

High oil prices
won’t better fill his belly
or get him a nicer dacha;
there’s more, ( a sense of history),
to the man.

He`s just too healthy to be given to excessive introspection

He is a man of forwardmotion.

John,

You may be right, but that's pretty much the same thing I said, or at least meant. You want to go personality, I want to argue territory marking.

LR,

I think that's part of the game as well, but I don't remember any comments concerning Venezuela.

One criticism, perhaps, is that we are all to o ready to fall back into bi-polarism.

And you think he's not?

I'm not sure I understand the Venezuala reference Brad -- but, to your other point -- high oil prices are all about personality and marking territory too.  Without them Putin has no territory.

Remember Putin is former KGB.
That’s as Old Guard as you can get.
