.

I listened to a report on NPR
coming home about Canadian opinion
regarding their soldiers under NATO being
in Afghanistan, in light of their just losing
six to a road side bomb.   The reporter being
interviewed basically said that it was unpopular
and opposition was growing because Canadians
when they first became involved did not in general
realize that participation might involve casualties,
(having not experienced such in any significant way
since the Korean War).  There was a general acknowledgement
that the Taliban are bad guys, (resorting now, among
other things, to the use of human shields which
they, the Taliban, do not deny),  whom most of the
Afghans were afraid if not terrified of and do not want
to see back in power, etc.,  but the fact that more
Canadians might be killed or wounded helping is the
risk Canadians are increasingly not willing
to accept.

Now I find such candor refreshing.  There was no attempt
to take or find some moral high ground.  It was a simple
we donít want our boys to risk their lives for anyone else
but us.   I can respect that.

100% agree.
But what if you are told that to get the gas lower than 1$ a gallon, we have to do it or If you don't, other country would take over that place? or the terrorist has come and will come and look what they are doing in UK now?
