Barak Hussein Obama, named in respect to his Nigerian father and raised in Hawaii with his white American mother and her family. Very little mention of that appears in any of his books. Not that it really matters, I reckon. When I first heard of him, I saw a black American from Illinois running for a Senate seat with phenomenal oratory skills and shining with charisma. And though I'm a Republican (Moderate Liberal), I'd vote for him if I thought he was the best candidate for the job of President. Howsoever, all I've heard regarding his parentage has been focused on his Nigerian father whom he met as a late teen on a trip to Nigeria, not the actual person who gave birth, raised, educated, clothed, fed, housed, entertained, supported and imbued with the characteristics which have carried him this far. Perhaps if he does run, I'll finally be able to see the person he's kept locked in the closet all these years: his mom.
