So when do we get to grow up?
When does the general media
In general treat us as more than idiots?
Are we supposed to wait until to moment of death to wise up?
It angers me that I must touch maturity by surreptitious means.
I am an old man, (I’ve live longer than Mister Cool Steve McQueen),
who has experienced many things,
seen the dying of men,
and yet in my final age all that is offered is not respect
but the false hope of again being sixteen.

What am I to take to my grave
but the condolence of not having to participate in folly anymore?

It is not you I blame
You are as much a victim as I.
But at some point it must stop.
Otherwise none of it was worthwhile.
