It's a good day for football--AGAIN.

and sorry folks, but I just gotta do it again--

(and thank you Philadelphia, for handing us that opportunity too. Ya'll screwed up--we got lucky, and we know it, but? WE'LL TAKE IT!!!)

Can I get a Sweet Noah Eaton YAY?

Saints 27
Eagles 24

And I'm still cracking up, because you could actually hear people all around New Orleans screaming in gleeeeeeeeeeee...

yay!

I'm gonna go stretch out in the afterglow now.

ta! :waving:

Not a prob, Reb.

I'm feeling pretty accomodating today.

Why, I was called "almost sweet" a few minutes ago.

(and we really are stunned here, too. Philadelphia is a very satisfying win for us. That's five and one, and easy math. )

MUAH.

Football? Saints?

Detroit sweeps the ALCS, four to zip, and y'all are excited about winning A game? Michigan is bound for the World Series for the first time in 22 years and y'all are watching football?

Shame on you.

I'm not sure Detroit so much won as Oakland practically handed it to them... I mean, really - did the A's even show up??? Wednesday was the only day they even seemed to be halfheartedly there...

I think my interest in sports is directly related to the size of the balls.

Seriously, I can watch baseball. Um, sorta. I put my book down 'round 'bout the sixth inning.

And Golf? If it is in person, you'll find me at the club. If it is on television, I usually end up "losing it" and screaming at the screen: "Why are you whispering to me? You are on tevevion Dumbutts!" (or something that sounds like that).

But of course, by all means--way to go Michigan. (I didn't even know ya'll had a team.)

But sure--yay!

*chuckles*

This reminded me of a moment with my Dad. I wandered into the family room, pulled up a seat at his bar as he watched a baseball game intently.

"Good game?"

"GREAT game." He never took his eyes off the screen.

"So what's the score?"

"Nuthin to Nuthin..."

He still hadn't even so much as glanced at me.

ooooooookay

"Nuthin to nuthin, huh?"

He gritted his teeth and said:

"That's why it is a great game."

Then I heard my mom yell from the kitchen:

"Karen Anne--let your Daddy be, now."

I could take a hint. I let him be. But that was my instant education in the fascination of a game where nuthin' is exciting.

LOL. The truth is, the last time I watched a baseball game was at Angel Stadium, circa 1973. No, wait. That's the *only* baseball game I've ever watched. And the last time I watched even a portion of a Tiger's game the star player was Al Kaline

Your dad was right, though, Karen. The beauty of baseball is in the defense, and hitting the ball with a bat is just an excuse to trigger that beauty, perhaps with a back-peddling catch in right field or the rapid fire choreography of a double-play. In that sense, baseball is a lot like a good game of chess. Only not as exciting.

Your reply reminds me of a small detail I had forgotten.

During our exchange, I tried to sneak a sip of my Dad's beer.

He managed to smack my hand without ever taking his eyes from the screen.

heh

I knew you reminded me of somebody...

*laughing*
