Has anyone read this book yet?  And if so, would you say it's worth purchasing & reading?

No but you have me curious and that's when I'm most dangerous. I haven't seen a doctor in at least 12 years and short of a daily Bayers to keep the ticker flowing smoothly I eschew medicine. I avoid much interaction with others (this helps if you're nuts) and so avoid the common cold, flu etc. Truly I refuse to get sick, a determined mind helps here. If I feel ill in even a small queasy way it's because I'm watching a drug commercial.

Herb is not a cute volkswagon.

I saw something on TV recently, a few minutes of an interview with him. I am hoping to get a copy of it myself, as I have had my fill of traditional medicine doctors and Rx's that usually caused more problems than they solved.
Three years ago, I weaned myself from six layers of meds I was on for nearly ten years. I was told I'd need them rest of my life, but every time my BP went up a bit, they would simply increase the dose or add another med. And I had an allergic reaction to a med change a few years back that put me in ER and intensive care for four days.
Now, a glass of red wine and an occasional aspirin or Ibupropen is about all I am willing to take. That, and constantly exercising and eating lots of fresh fruits and veggies, whole grain cereals and breads, nuts, rice and tofu, plus a variety of cheeses. Limited candies and snacks, and to fight germs??? HANDWASHING about a hundred times a day, LOL, and very rarely eating out.
Anyway, let us know what you think if you do read this book.

I haven't read the book, but I did want to add that yes, many herbs do have medicinal qualities, (er, where d'ya think drugs come from anyhow?) and should be listed right along side your prescribed meds and OTC's on your doctor's information list, as many herbal remedies may cause drug interactions, if not nullify the effects of some pharmaceuticals. Even some foods have this potential (thinking of the grapefruit juice factor here)

And yep, after experiencing some fair amount of devastation from drug interactions (both prescribed and self administered) I have found a very good pharmacist, and I rely on him quite a bit to sort things out for me.

But then, I suppose ya'll guessed that I rely on my pharmacist quite a bit, huh?

(NOW, Raph, looking for that smilie.)

There.
