City of Roses
Yeah, I agree that Hillary wouldn't exactly be a universally appealing contender for president. I am critical of Hillary on many personal points myself. Then again, I'm critical of Bill Clinton in many areas, particularly with his Welfare Reform Act.
Jesse (The Body) Ventura would have a cult appeal, but that's the only appeal I imagine him having should he run. He hasn't established his image nearly as successfully as Schwartzenegger. Schwartzenegger gave a potent speech at the Republican National Convention, and despite California remaining in economic turmoil, Schwartzenegger has a pretty promising approval rating in that state. When many think of Schwartzenegger now, they think of him as The Terminator, the Kindergarten Cop, but moreover, a political face. Jesse remains pretty unknown outside the wrestling community and Minnesota, most of think would think "Oh, isn't he that wrestling guy?" but no one would know his track record as governor of Minnesota.
We'll just have to wait and see who steps up to the plate in 2008. I already think Barack Obama would make an excellent contender, though perhaps he should garner more experience in the Senate until 2012 before he runs so he can share a stronger track record, which has proven to be crucial in an election season if you're a senator or a congressman.
Then again, I'm praying the Green Party can grow leaps and bounds and more and more can face the progressive movement at once.
