A recent study attributed the decline of male turtles in the great lakes region to chemical pollutants. A second cause may lie in radiowaves, specifically radiowaves produced by the repeated playing of Hoobastank's 'The Reason' as evidenced by drastically reduced testotorone levels and 'turtling' in their human counterparts.

*Urgh!

**all apologies to any male fans of the song, both of you.

Well, it's not "Crawling in the Dark" but I'd still rather listen to the new Hoobastank track than anything John Mayer has produced.  Geesh ... talk about a testosterone neutralizer ...

But, honestly, doesn't the sappy music make you appreciate bands like Godsmack all the more?

Susan:

I'd like the Nickelback tune more if it didn't seem to be such a blatant "Puddle of Mudd" rip-off. Perhaps they're overcompensating for the Spiderman "Hero" song?

I'd argue they're all blatant rip-offs of Alice In Chains,Soundgarden and Pearl Jam which were blatant rip offs of every 70's supergroup lol

oh i've heard worse songs no doubt, but nothing quite as, dare i say it..effeminate. it just doesn't belong on certain radio stations and that's what set me off it's not solely a matter of being a sissy song but another horribly fabricated piece of crap.

the same progressive station that introduced me to such varied acts like nirvana and the seattle flood, tool, prodigy, nin, stone roses, bjork, radiohead, coldplay, cure, and the distillers is playing this song ad nauseum.

Thanks to Susan's response I would like to relabel Hoobastank's 'the reason' to a 'girly foo song' that is all.

What about that yeah yeah yeahs band with that painfully simple song?

Talk about doing poetry no justice. An intro of one note playing for what seems like a full minute, too.

Ugh.

And the Darkness? I don't even want to get into them..just..horrible.

Heh calm down, It is this years titanic song. Wait one more month wierd al will moch it and then I will laugh. Personally It is a nice song (lyrically, but I don't think I like the way it was sung), but it has been over played. Even a girl like me gets tired of romantic songs over played.

I will close saying the best thing ever invented was the remote for the boom box. No longer did I have to get up to turn the station, to another not much better.

Repetitive poetry is poetry too now!

I think the music video is halarios. Very random. It made me smile. Besides.... Its better then that one group were the lead singer weres well I pretty sure it is lower then low cut and shiny.... I try to forget about groups like that.

Toe,

I thought the spelling was Lynyrd Skynyrd (pronounced as Lynn-herd Skyn-herd )...
and maybe you liked the band because one of their most famous songs is 'Sweet Home Alabama' ...

I liked 'Freebird' and 'Tuesday's Gone' more

Sudhir's got the correct spelling.

Primarily, I just want my artists to write their own music and/or lyrics regardless of the genre. Second, it would be nice if they had some level of talent in executing this.

In some cases (classic rock for example) I'll let the lyrics slide because the musicians are incredible. In other cases there's either poor musicianship or the artist (say a solo artist like Bjork) doesn't play or write all of her music but shows incredible lyrical and vocal talent.
