Further to my poem The Whale's Cry, i have more information on this and other outrageous acts of brutality against creatures who should be able to live free.

Can i ask for input on what the family memebers of PIP think to this appaling act, on the part of humans, towards fellow living creatures?

Until there is not a single fish swimming in our oceans and seas will humans stop their destruction.
We are supposed to be at the top of the intelligence chain, yet we are still very backward when it comes to preserving the sacred life of animals.

If you would like more information to go with this thread, try this site....www.defendingoceans.com . This highlights just how serious the situation has got, not just with whale's and dolphins, but with birds such as the albatross....read it and weep...

You left out crustaceans, both fresh and salt water. They don't cry, per se, but they do scream, albiet briefly, when dropped in boiling water. However, I don't eat them due to that...I just don't like how they taste.

Everyone cries for the whales, yet no one seems to care that most of the whales that are killed ARE being used, and not just killed. native peoples of the Great North use them for food, lamp oil, and many other uses.
And since we are on the subject of killing things... shouldn't we cry for the fish that the whales and dolphins, and other creatures eat?
While I do not begrudge your right to have the thoughts that you do, and the absolute right to express them in any lawful manner possible (as you have just done), I tend to take issue with too many of the animal rights activists and their thoughts... NOT because I might disagree with them, or think them meritless... simply because of the complete hypocrisy invoved with many (but by no means all) of the activists.
Example:
"Don't kill the deer or the birds, or the other things that men hunt" soon followed by the "activists" going out for a steak dinner.
Or the ones that abhorr violence in any form against animals, and call the hunters terrorists, and just to prove their point send threatening letters, or pick fights where they outnumber the hunters.
Or the ones that refuse to wear leather garments because it is the skin of an animal.. and then smother their pork chops with gravy.

No, Goldenrose, I am not adding you to their number. I do not know you, and you have- as far as I have seen- been quite respectful of others and their rights to have their own thoughts. THAT sets you apart from the ones from which I talk about, who feel that everyone is entitled to their opinions as long as the opinions match their own.
I am simply putting down another viewpoint to this discussion.

when i posted this thread on here i had hoped that someone would actually talk about the subject in hand... namely the barbaric practice of whale hunting....however as i said in my first thread we are supposed to be at the top of the inteligence chain...we cannot even talk seriously on an important subject without reverting to childish jokes.

When i posted this i neither mentioned nor sought answers on animal rights or other related issues and yet that is excatly what i got.....sometimes i do not know what i have to do to make people relise the topic i was asking about...JUST ABOUT THE WHALES.....

Even if you were the most avid of hunters you have to admit that the killing of whales benefits nobody..alright the people of the far north and other places have hunted them..but even they have been largely ''westernised'' and no longer need to hunt them..they just keep tradition alive.

So if you have a view about WHALES and you would like to express them by all means do so...

Have a great day everyone....peace...

I just re-rad my post, and am still attempting to find ANY childish jokes. Everything I said was either a personal experience, or the experiences of a friend. True, it is not only about whales, however the last I looked Whales are a member of the animal kindom, and animal rights activists tend to include them into their discussion... as well as manatees, and Seals, and Dolphins (which you did), and all sorts of sea creatures, except those which are nutritious and tasty when covered in sauce and served with peas and carrots.
(THAT was a childish joke... get the difference?)
Now, as far as the dolphins, I do not agree with the practice of killing the dolphins that get caugt in the tuna nets. That practice is barbaric and just plain laziness on the part of the fishermen, because they would rather take 30 seconds to kill them than to take 5 minutes to free them.

It is unforgiveable what we do to most other living creatures, not to mention what we do to one another, often in the name of some higher power. If I were that higher power, I would probably eliminate the human race and give the planet to some other species.
