We should all get concerned about this. This chemical is in your house right now.

Dihydrogen Oxide is a substance that is used widely throughout the United States (and around the world) in manufacturing processes including the preparation of FOOD!!  But, it is also the major component found in ACID RAIN, can cause excessive sweating and vomiting in high doses, in a gaseous state it can cause SEVERE BURNS if it comes into contact with human flesh,  it can be LETHAL if inhaled and treatment is not given immediately.  It wreaks havoc in other ways too.  It causes erosion of igneous formations, can cause automobile brakes to malfunction, it can cause metal ions to DISSOLVE if when mixed with simple TABLE SALT.  It is used WIDELEY for the dilution and treatment of WASTE and SEWAGE -- yet -- it is used to prepare our FOOD people.

It is a colorless and odorless chemical compound that is also sometimes called Dihydrogen Monoxide (DHMO), Hydrogen Hydroxide, Hydronium Hydroxide, or simply Hydric acid.  Its' radical Hydroxide component is also found in many caustic, explosive, and poisonous compounds such as Nitro Glycerine, Ethyl Alcohol, Methyl Alcohol, Hydrochloric Acid, and Sulfuric Acid.  It is found in cancerous tumors of all types.

The FDA (Food and Drug Administration) and the CDC (Centers for Disease Control) do not classify this dangerous compound as a toxic or carcinogenic substance.

Write to your Congressman or Woman and let them know we need to take action NOW! Today....

Because -- Today is a VERY important day.

I just read that it is also used extensively in pesticides.

It's used as a coolant in nuclear power plants.

In the production of chemical and biological weapons.

And is even being added to the WATER supplies of many college campuses.

If you know of other uses/abuses of DHMO please inform us here with suggested action plans.

You shouldn't sweat it, LR.

Or, uh, do as the case may be?

Sunshine -- this quote from the link you posted sums it up for me!!

quote:

Any product that causes injuries and death, as well as pollution, should not be used. Thank you.

I heard DHMO may have also been involved in the sinking of the Titanic!!

And -- Denise!! You think this if FUNNY??

Um... Deer?  Is that why you don't get any repeat customers???  Contaminating houses with DHMO -- I'd be ashamed I tell you... ASHAMED!!!

Heck, Reb...for me, LIFE causes injury and death.  Just ask me, I'm a natural born Klutz.  Now, if they could just come up with a medical name for THAT disease, I could probably somehow work it so I could claim disability NOW, and do what I enjoy doing most...rewriting this danged novel...

Oh wait...you couldn't look that name up FOR me, could you?  It's never too late to backdate my doctor's note 4-1-04 and submit it to the boss tomorrow...

First Karilea -- STAY AWAY FROM ALL DHMO!!!

You have incommoditas iaceo (or it's common name is Ford-Chase Syndrome).  You should definitely stay away from all DHMO with this condition. It can also cause pratfalls.

Or it's possible you have the more chronic form inconcinnus corripio proprius -- which is less lethal... but more embarrassing.

I'm with you, for many years, I sat back on my duff and didn't become involved....but realized, that is why this country is in the state it's in...b/c if it doesn't effect us personally, it's ok.  Well, we can blame everyone else in the world when things go bad, when they do, but bottom line is...it's our faults for allowing things to get to this point.   If we only knew...if we only knew??????

Thank you for this very specific peace of info...we should all write, if not for ourselves then for the next generation, and...we should try very hard to become involved, leaving this place a little better then when we found it?

Many thanks

See, now, I'm retarded or something... of course, it ran through my mind- dihydrogen oxide... wait a second, that's H2O, right? Is there some kind of wierd ion or something? What's the deal here?

And then I saw rampant smiley faces... and I got it.

Is it in beer and Jack Daniels too?...It makes me sweat and vomit sometimes?....I guess if I were to worry about this stuff, which I probably should, I should worry more about the stuff I purposely take into my system?.....I think I've been dying since I was born, definitely since I turned 16 and took my first joint, beer and Purple Haze....? I quit eating fried foods cuz they're bad for ya, I quit dieting because it's bad for ya, I quit drinking water cuz most is polluted, I quit drinking milk cuz it's too damn expensive now and I hate that whitish fluid they force down innocent children anyhow, I quit eating eggs till they said they're good for ya, I quit eating butter cuz of the cholesterol till another college whiz said margerine is like eating plastic and bugs won't even eat it and butter is good for ya, then, about those bugs, I quit having the house sprayed because of this stuff, then had so many bugs and I heard they carry all sorts of diseases so I started spraying again, I quit listening to loud rock music because it says it will make you lose your hearing, now I can't hear about all the things that are bad for me so now I just don't care....You can't masturbate or you'll go blind, and if I go blind I won't be able to READ what the hell's gonna kill me and then where would I be?

So... I'm feeling extra dumb right now, because I was ready to respond-

"Didn't you post this last year, too?"

Until I saw my own response... from TWO years ago, mind you...

I must be getting old.
