On all my posts within the last month and a half or so, I have made mention to bring back to the board Michele or commonly known as the inkedgoddess. She was banned for sixty days because of an improper posting violation. Well, it is over the 60 day mark and Michele is still banned. Why? I know from reading her stuff, she tends to push to envelope or goes to the edge but I beleive she is rependent and will in the future, stay within the guidelines of the moderators of this board. I have email with no reply a moderator requesting nicely she be allowed to post. Unanswered emails are disappointing. I liked her stuff and would like to see her style again. I question if there is some sort of jealousy in keeping her off. Her talents shine through and quite frankly her stuff is as good as or in many cases better than postings from others including those who moderator this board. If you have no intention of letting her post, tell her...tell us outright so this can be put to rest. I have read post about freedom of speech and I for one truly beleive this valuable freedom should be upheld. Don't quash this shining light because of some hurt feelings...petty conflicts or whatever reason. We can only gain from one and other and I think the reason we all participate here is to enrich ourselves and grow. Some other posters have mentioned things in their writings that I have deemed questionable but yet I still see further writings. I have gone back and reviewed Michele's stuff and yes....she throws in an inuendo or 2, or said an improper word here and there but nothing better or worse than from others. So I ask or rather challenge, the powers to be here on this board to reinstate her and please do it sooner rather than later. Lets give this talented lady another chance she deserves. If some of our so called sports hero's can be give a third or fourth chance, why not here. If she again flaunts the rules, no one will have a louder voice than I to ask for her to be kicked off and for good. I will then apologize to each and every reader or poster her for asking to reinstate her and I would be happy to listen to the chorus of I told you so's which I will have so justly deserved. Thanks to all for at least hearing me out.

Umm... Just so I never make the same mistake myself (given that I am still trying to learn the ropes here) can someone please say exactly what this lady did to warrant being banned? I saw the bit about inappropriate postings but what exactly is that? Did she use profane language? Did she curse at other members? Did she make racial/sexual/relgious slurs? What exactly did she do.

I remember posting a poem in the Adult Forum to which there was not much response. I agonised for quite some time over the possibility that I may have gone overboard a bit. I later consoled myself with the thought that maybe not many members visit the Mature Content forums. However, for those such as myself who may be unsure, it would be good if when someone posts something which is not acceptable, a reminder could be posted to point out what is right/not right.

Please remember this is Ron's home. And Ron's home isn't exactly beholding to the constitution. But more importantly I have observed the workings of the moderators here for over a year now. There are no power plays here and no decision is taken lightly. And even more impressive than that is the willingness to hear challenges to their decisions.

You are entitled to your own confidence level in the moderation of Ron's home but for me they do an awesome job. They are human and hence capable of mistakes but with enough voices in the decision process those are extremely few. And don't forget the issue of confidentiality.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

I don't know what she did, but it must of been completely "out of bounds."  Why do I think that? Because...afterall...I am still here.

I'm still here too, so that says a lot.

I don't agree with the way some things are, but overall, I love the place.

For what its worth, (put with a fifty-cent piece will get you a cup of coffee) I miss Michele, and Patricia (regards2u) and I think they should be given second chances.

My post was innocent, her reply was also, but it must have been to much. You may all beat me now for her ban.Michelle is always there for my post, but I must have drug out the last straw in her.Funny thing is, only her response was noted, was one of my many ignored post
I await the day, inked is back, you may all flog me now.

Your email and posts, bklynboy, have gone unacknowledged because it's less rude to ignore someone than it is to tell them to mind their own business. Your posts and emails, as well as those of others, have not helped Michele in the least. On the contrary, taken in conjunction with her own, as a continued mimicry of her words, you have only hurt her position. Trying to compare Michele's conduct to that of others is fruitless, because each are confidential matters and, by definition, you know too little to offer a valid opinion. You did not receive any warnings sent to the one, and you won't likely be CC'd on warning letters to others either. Disrespect for our simple rules is accumulative. Your support of a friend is admirable, to be sure, but what you don't see is far more than what you do see.

Garfield, we try not to publicly tout the mistakes of others, and precisely what Michele did to warrant suspension isn't very important. Besides, if I went into detail, I'd just have to edit myself.

I'm confident you would never do it, but you can rest assured that if you did do it, you wouldn't be suspended. Your comment would be edited and you would be privately told it was inappropriate. And unless you really went spastic on us, that would probably happen at least a dozen or more times before you seriously had to worry about losing your posting privileges. And you would certainly know that consequences were imminent before they were invoked.

Our goal is to have a place where we can all be comfortable posting, but that is not our only goal. It's not even our primary goal. We know that not everyone in the world values what we value, but we sincerely hope they can LEARN to value it when they see it in real practice. Until we are utterly convinced our efforts are futile, people will be given every possible opportunity to learn that Respect and Tolerance actually work to everyone's benefit. We very much want people to understand, and every time we are forced to permanently turn someone away, we have failed our primary goal.

In Michele's case, we haven't failed yet. She was reinstated this morning.

If you don't like the food being served, go eat somewhere else.  If you don't like the rules, play a different game.

There are times, JP, when that policy might make sense. But taken to extremes, it starts sounding a lot like the old "America, love it or leave it" diatribe. I think it's okay to appreciate something, want to be a part of something, and still feel a pressing need to argue for change. I have no problem with our Members arguing for changes in policy. As long as they remember that disagreeing with a rule is not a license to break it, I'll listen to anything they have to say.

Ron,
Thank you for reinstating Michele. I understand your position and beleive me, I support you. As I noted, if she flaunts the rules even a little, their will be no voice louder than mine to finally ban her for good. I realize this is your board and you as the adminstrator can run it any which way you so choose. I am glad you have choosen to be magnanomous and let her post once again. Shows you are a stand up guy in my book.

Just to throw my ever-expanding backside into the mix, I would have to back Ron up on this one, even though he neither needs, nor probably wants it. I have been nailed twice for posting violations, and in both cases, the improper posts were deleted, or moved to the proper forum. I was e-mailed about the improper actions I had tken, and sent on my way to sin no more (uh... isn't that last line supposed to be in another thread??).
Ron's stated goal is to give people a place to share, and he does that most admirably.

(Now, Ron... where's that $50???)

Day after day I'm more confused,
So I look for the light through the pouring rain...

Ron, I just read your post. Thanks for the response. I have to say that I have found your management of this site truly remarkable, fair, and impressive. I only wanted to be sure that I do not make the same mistakes that others make. It is much clearer now thanks.

Moderation, in moderation, can be a good thing.  Those who have frequented free-for-alls can attest.

While I've caused Ron and other moderators to have a few episodes I'd have to say that I've appealed and won a few and just edited myself when requested.

The moderation is much more moderate now than it was in the past and I think it's a pretty fair place for a cantankerous lout like me to hang out on occasion.  Keeps me off the street

Can't we all just get along?

ROTFL@Karen - I'm envisioning "My Fair Lady" here... and loving the way Julie Andrews managed to retain vestiges of her original self despite her "off the streets" training...
