Okay see I have a lot of friends but I have this one friend who just dumped her boyfriend today during sixth hour and she didn't want to hurt him yet she did. See her boyfriend was very controlling and he didn't understand that she didn't want to be with him anymore. I didn't know what to tell her, so I just listened and let her get it all out. What advice should I give her tomorrow? Please help. thank you.

Sometimes it's just nice to have someone listen to our problems. A good listener is hard to find! If she asks for your advice, tell her you're still thinking about it - if you give her advice and she doesn't like it, it could hurt the friendship. If she takes your advice and then something happens that she doesn't like, she'll blame you. Just smile, tell her you're there for her and will listen but that you want to see how things work out before you give advice.

Ditto, just be there and listen, 'advice' might only muddle the issue, and most people resent it when given anyway.
I think it's a very mature reaction on your part, to stay as neutral as possible.

Let her know that no matter how hard it may be to hurt this guy, its for the best if it makes her happy.  Obviously she wasn't happy with him or she wouldn't have wanted to end the relationship..so its for the best. Besides, she's still got a long way to go.."This too shall pass." It's usually not worth stressing over..
