Am just feeling angry tonight. Today I had my bag stolen while walking out of my local Tube station, was quite scary really. Feels horrible, not so much because I had lots of money in it or anything but had my phone in it with all my numbers in it and stuff like that and I hate the idea of someone going through my stuff which will probably just be discarded. And everyone is out or at work or away so have to stay at home by self tonight so I thought I would vent here. I love living in London it is a great city but right now I wish I lived somewhere with a little less street crime. Do you know that London has like half the number of police officers that New York has, I think they are probably about the same size, there are about 7 million people in London so it is a pretty big city. Oh well I know alot worse things happen out there every day but still, I feel well and truley sorry for myself, OK I am done now

That IS a major pain in the arse...not to mention the NECK, if you happen to have someone yank a leather strap...and as ya said, it's just all the stuff that is accumulated--tsk...add up the cost of replacing identification, etc., cosmetics, and all the little doo dads that end up in there. Yep...I'd have gladly handed over the money.

More than annoying, it's enraging.

You poor thing.  I don't blame you for being angery.  I would be too.

It's just the point that you feel violated. Not only that but have to cancel credit cards etc. etc.

this happened to my mom a few years back, but she was at home sick with the flu in her bedroom, and someone walked right in and stole her purse off the steps.  I guess they got scared off when they heard the tv going.

Hope everything works out for you.

This indeed sucks.

But on another note, I visited London several years ago and loved it - I would go back in a heartbeat. You live in a city that is old with history yet alive and new with diversity.

*grrrrr* I had something similar happen to me recently. I had my purse stolen out of my freaking bag while waiting for a train! The station I was on was SWARMING with police, and they STILL had the audacity to OPEN my bag and pull it out!

It's not the fact that they took my purse that enrages me- it's the whole way that everyone around me, behind me, and certainly next to the person who took it didn't say a freaking thing. Didnt attempt to stop the person, didnt bother informing me, didnt even so much as indicate anything was happening!!! If YOU say someone opening someone elses backpack and taking their wallet- would you just stand there and let it happen?! *grrrr*...

There's always a huge sense of violation when that does happen though. Your city isnt  the only place where crime is rampant. It happens everywhere, I live in Sydney Australia, and I'm pretty sure that things like that happen just as much as it does over there. People are aware of it- some become complacent (like me) but other's just stand back and watch and let it happen.

I know how you feel.

Are you scared? BOO! Are you now?

Bummer!!! And you are right, most of the stuff will be thrown down, often into a trash can, as if it had no intrinsic value.
But you weren't physically molested and hurt, and I guess, that other stuff is replaceable.
Not that this makes you feel better, but maybe it helps soothe the wounds to remember YOU are ok?

Yeah, it must have been pretty unfair. I lost a wallet once. had 50$ in it and that was when I was 11 so that was about my life savings. Very unhappy. But having it stollen would probably make you feel worse, huh?

I had a bunch of stuff stolen out of my car while i was at work. sad thing about it is that there were several cars around my car behind my place of employment with all doors unlocked and none others had anything stolen out of them.
at first i just thought it was my cd case that was stolen, which had over 50 cds in it. then i realized my wallet was missing the next day. so i filed a police report. the next day after i filed the report, i saw that my polaroid camara and a few other things were missing. i was so angry and still am. mostly about the cd's.
