I am not one to complain, but this time I am truly disappointed with the Prose writers/readers.
I do my fair share of replying and don't post myself very much.
I always try to reply to as many as I can and always give each poet/writer a comment, eventhough it may be a short one, to let them know I read and enjoyed their work.
I'm new with writing prose, but for every story I wrote I made at least 10 or more replies to others.
Sounds fair wouldn't you say ? Then why do I feel ignored in the prose forum ? I see too many writers NOT read others work and it saddens me. Not only do I like my own work to be read and commented on, I truly enjoy the work of others too and I'm sure you all like to see comments made to your writings.

So what's going on ? I know reading prose takes more time than reading poems, but if you like your story to be read, shouldn't we have the common courtesey to reply to others too, although that seems of no help in my case.

Come on guys ! Let's make the Prose Forum one for EVERYBODY !

I haven't been in there for ages so I'm off to have a read...thanks for reminding me Munda..

Can't comment on the rest as I don't know who writes in there but in principle what you say seems fair but maybe they don't have time and do a 'hit and run', but I think the key factor is that you enjoy reading theirs and your own...

This is hard..I try to read a few posts every other day or so....it's like Adult..those that write there are the ones that reply..and I do think there are still a lot of people that just come in, post in Open and leave. They never truly get the full benefit of Passions!

You think Prose is bad, most people don't even know the English Workshop exists!!!

Munda, you're echoing sentiments I've held for a loooong time. However, on the flip side I do have to say that Prose traffic has been increasing steadily over the past few weeks. We've had a large increase in both topics and replies.

One of the things I have noticed as far as replies (and mostly because this is the way I do it) is that unlike open or some of the other forums, pieces aren't necessarily dead if they drop for a couple of days. It's quite common for them to go by without recieving responses and then boom several responses hit at once.

Personally, I like to give others a chance to reply before I do. (I've noticed that I have more than once "stopped" responses. Though that's mostly when I do an in-depth critique!)

So fear not Dutchie, if you write it they will read! (thanks Ron  ) But it's great that you bring the topic up! Umm... the biggest problem is though, that those who "drop and run" aren't likely to be reading in any of the announcement forums...go figure!

Peace,

Chris

And I realized another possibility that I hadn't really considered before.

SInce Prose is a much slower forum, if someone is defaulted to show the "past five days" or "topics for today" then they won't see much. If they have it only showing the last day, then sometimes they might not see mroe than one or two topics... hmm

Thank you Cindy for going to the Prose Forum   but I was most certainly not refering to you, nor you Sharon. I know you read and reply a lot in Prose (and care). Nevertheless, thank you for reading and replying to this topic.

Chris....ahhh yes...the English Workshop. I remember even you forgot it was there for a while.

Yes I do think a lot of members only see "topics for today". I've read and replied to too many stories with 0 replies, almost dropping off the page.
I visited prose long before I started writing  prose myself and do have to agree it improved some, but not that much.
Oh and don't fear.....I will reply to your story, but after I read part 5 hehe. It seems more fair to reply to one of yours and to four others stories.

In-depth critique ? Feel free to in-dept-critique me anytime. I always thought of the Prose Forum as a place to learn and write better prose, although I like kind comments too, especially being a newbie at this.

Don't fear Chris.....I won't fear....I'm Dutch hehe.
