This point has been brought up many times before and everyone agrees it is not acceptable. So why does it continue? I am talking about the mutiple-posting issue. I have noticed it mainly happens in Teen and the Open forum (someone posts something in OP and then posts the same in Teen). I realize that some of the newer members may not know this, but I have seen members that have been around since the forums opened that continue this practice.

Sorry if I seem to be venom-spitting, but it has been bothering me for a while now. Maybe the poetry is great, but posting it in one forum ought to be sufficient enough.

Set every threadbare sail-
And give her to the god of storms,
The lightning and the gale!

Unfair devil's advocate question: What harm is done by this?

I've never been to Teen Poetry (or several of the other Forums either for that matter) and, perhaps, I may get some enjoyment out of that particular poem.

Again, just playing devil's advocate (no hair pulling please)   < !signature-->

I personally don't see a problem with it. Some people have a favorite forum that they like to go to and probably won't get the chance to read some of a persons work unless it is posted in different forums. But also with everything else, there is a limit.

All righty, you guys.... Here's an excerpt from our Forum Guidelines which you can read in total by clicking on the blue question marks on the right margin of each forum.....
quote:
While we have multiple forums for your use, we strongly discourage multiple posts - please select the forum most appropriate for your work and post it there and only there. Like everything in life, our resources are limited and double-posts limit them even further. The only exception to this, and it's an important one, is work originally posted in one of our Workshops. We consider those to be "works-in-progress" and it is completely acceptable - and encouraged - that you post the final result in one of our general forums. In a similar vein, if you make substantial revisions to any of your poetry please feel free to post the revision. Our intent is never to discourage you from posting, but only to stretch our resources as far as possible.

It makes good sense, doesn't it???

Nan~THANK you!!!!!

Jbouder~if someone wants to read the poems, they should visit all the forums. I go to almost every one that I have access to, and I have found something I liked in all of them.

Fairy Colours~I wouldn't have a problem with it either, but it is in the guidelines and (most) everyone agrees it is unacceptable. Nan has named the few exceptions to this rule.

I have noticed this problem in the Teen forum. I have addressed the author of the multi-posts and have informed them that it is not an accepted practice. I believe that it is a respect issue. Because we have limited space we MUST be respectful of the other authors at this board. All we can do is continue to inform and try to instill respect.

Time constraints are a problem for me lately. If you see this happening (re-posts from Teen) I would appreciate an e-mail or icq message so I can address the issue. Thankyou for you assistence.

Marilyn, we can also let them know that repeated infractions may result in deletions of their reposts from secondary forums... Then they won't be surprised to see it happen... We don't want to be 'mean' to them, but the guidelines are there for a reason.  If some abuse it, more will do the same..

(Hangs head down in shame)  I admit it, I'm guilty!  Although, I am a lame brain sometimes, and never actually read the little instructions under the different forums.   So, I'm sorry.  I know that the people who have done it only want a varied audience to see their works.  And although it's been designed so just about everyone can see just about every forum, most don't seem to do that.  I do understand the space issue though, and respect it. < !signature-->

I agree totally, there is no need to post things multiply.  No matter what it is about.
We must follow Ron's guidelines.
