WARNING! POTENTIALLY OFFENSIVE OPINIONS!

Before you read this, Read Christopher's Complaint. This will make more sense.

Seeing that Dream posted his piece in a very responsible manner, I do not see why Ron has requested his removal as moderator. He had posted warnings, and the link was in Adult. I read the piece, and it was a disturbing story, however, not breaking any rules by posting a link to his piece. I have my URL listed in my profile, and it has some graphic pieces in it, should I get in some sort of trouble? He even cleared posting the link with Poet deVine.

I think Dream is a very good moderator, and even if everyone thinks this piece was too offensive, I don't see anything else he may have done wrong...

Is that what Passions is about? Judging someone on one "offense," not giving second chances? Why couldn't the terribly offensive post simply be deleted and a warning of sorts issued?

I will say I think that his removal from the moderator position was unjustified, and if I am offending anyone with this post, I apologize. I think that Dream should still have his position of moderator...anyone who agrees (Or disagrees) with me and is not afraid of people disliking their opinion, feel free to state your opinion on whether DreamEvil deserved to be removed as moderator, or if you think it was unjustified, or, If like me, you think he should be granted an apology AND his moderator rights back.

-I certainly hope I do not meet any trouble over contradicting a decision.-

Thank you everyone for bothering to read this.

I am not sure how to "vote" on this.. as many of you know I have been facing my own demons. I have not been around much of late other then to post a poem and leave. I am not aware of all the uproar and until I am. I will hold my opinion. I do not feel it right to side with DreamEvil based only on our friendship.

Lucie, he is a good friend of mine, and I truly believe he was wronged. I had to post something in his defense, and would do the same if this happened, to, say, PdV. Although I don't know her personally, I always try to help a person who has been wronged.

Whew -- OK, I have slept on it, and am a bit more calm now than I was last night. Forgive me for lashing out in anger -- it is not in my nature to do so -- I am simply a vehement opponent of censorship, which I believed was the cause for this decision. I have corresponded with Ron, however, and have discovered that this was not the case.

There are many different types of people in this world -- and there are as many sets of values as there are individuals. It is inevitable, given this diversity, that there will appear those points of view that will be irreconcilable with one another. In fact, there are many world views and ways of life that are diametrically opposed, giving rise to the hatred that Ron described in his response to Christopher's post on this subject. It is the evidence of that hatred in some of the responses DreamEvil received to his post that evoked my ire. I do not maintain that this excuses my vicious responses -- but I do suggest that neither does the hatred, however justified it may feel, which prompted "enemies" of DreamEvil to their responses, excuse the lack of tact that was obvious there.

OK, that's my edit. Thanks to Ron for taking the time to address my concerns.

Well I did not see the post that caused this uproar so I have no opinion on it. My opinion is this. The moderators are here to police not only us but themselves. If the decision was made by Ron and backed up by the moderators I have to accept it.

We do not know what steps were taken before the position was taken away from Scott. I can not make any kind of judgement call on this issue because I do not have all of the facts. Ron gave birth to this forum and had specific conceptions of what it should and should not be.

I love this forum because Ron created it a specific way. It is a friendly place and the rudeness is controlled fevorishly, I appreciate that. As do the rest of you whom enjoy the freedom we have here. Again I need to repeat I have no knowledge of the material in question but trust the people who regulate.

I must agree with you Amy, that removing DE from the position of Moderator seems to be rather drastic. I read the story written by Dream, and though I didn't care for the subject matter, I read it knowing full well it was graphic...I was thoroughly warned first by the disclaimers. I was disturbed by it, as I was by the theme of the movie Silence of the Lambs(which I declined to view), and the news reports of Jefferey Dahmer's cannabalistic crimes. I am a firm believer in the "off" button of the television...and the same applies to the "back" button on my computer.

I also understand that as the owner of this site, Ron has the ultimate decision and responsibility to decide what is appropriate to be posted here. If he felt that the link was inappropriate, then it is his decision to remove it and lock the thread. We have the right to post our opinions on his decision, though.

I do think that DE is a good Moderator here, and though I have not heard Ron's side of this, I will say the removal of Dream's Moderator position seemed rather abrupt to me.

I used to believe that. However, recent turns of events have made me doubt that feeling. I think that Isabelle Syke's reaction to DE's prose was immature and incredibly rude. How would you feel if a piece of yours was met with childish insults? I think that if someone who will resort to personal attacks is allowed to be moderator, DE should also-his manner of posting was very mature, and breaking no rules. Isabelle's manner of replying was thoughtless (at least I hope, if there was thought put into that, I find it even more disturbing. She does have her opinion, and freedom to express it, but was the personal attack really justified? I think these comments belong in Christopher's complaint, but oh well.

I also think that while Ron has the ultimate authority, we should be able to question his answers, and have an explaination. He has made this communtiy for us, and any community needs rules, but if you were, say allowed to do something by another police officer, and the mayor revoked your police job for it, how would you feel?

I agree with you Amy!! 100% I too read the piece in question.Graphic... very. But there were enough warnings attached to the link and again on the site. The writing was excellent.

There are many things I read in which I don't like or agree with the subject matter. In those case I judge what I'm reading of how it flows, and how well it is written. It seems though that certain people are penalized for what they write instead of how they right and this is very wrong.

I too believe Scott deserves a second chance!

That's it right there! I said in my reply to Christopher's complaint that no one was forced to read DremEvil's posting. They chose to read this, considering all the warnings, and once reading, chose to continue.

If something offends you, don't read it at all. There is also no need for referring to someone's work as "perverted" and calling a piece "trash". When it comes right down to it, probably just about EVERY poem ever written has been referred to by someone else as trash. Considering some of the responses I have seen, we are lucky this whole site is not some sort of rip-you-apart club. I know that it is just the opposite here, but it could very well turn into one if everyone just stated nasty opinions about what they thought of someone's poem.

Down with cencorship and the controlling of people's words and ideals, for this is a poetry site and poetry is about expressing thy self.
