OK, I've never used the Alley to beef about anything but I'm beefing now. I would appreciate your ear on this one.

Most of us know how the Toe-'deer wars started and we've had a lot of fun doing it. Many of the poets enjoy the comedy we use in mixing it up with each other and I know Toerag does, as well as I. Somewhere along the line, sexual innuendos began - me and sheep, Toe and fruit, LongJohn and everything else - and that was fine, too, because we moved to the adult forum to play with them. Problem is, they seem to be popping up in the open forum, as well.
I invite friends, family and customers to visit that site and read our poetry. More than once, I've been questioned about the sexual remarks thrown around there. It is no pleasure explaining to someone I've invited that fellow poets like to tease me about beastiality or Toerag about sexually assaulting fruit. They don't get it. Lately, several people have taken what appears to be any opportunity to slip in these types of remarks whenever they can. It is not adding to the class of the site or the opinions of our visitors.

All I'm saying is that the sexual fun stuff began in the adult forum and I feel it should stay in the adult forum. The open forum has always been a class act and I think it should remain a class act. Being as guilty as anyone else, I vow to not respond to any poems on the open site with sexual innuendos of any kind and I sincerely hope that others will follow suit.

Thus endeth the reading of my beef.......

Applauding...but not everyone comes to the Alley, and we need to get this out to everyone. Suggestions?

Balladeer's Beef?.....Okay....no comment from me for sure on this one! I'm afraid I'm probably the cause of this...and I'm sorry. I came here with a bunch of this nasty stuff, posted on the wrong forums, and it's seemed to follow suit...My apologies...and I'll not mention anything about Balladeer's Beef or any other of his loves of nature in the future!

Guys - and especially Balladeer, for stepping forward - you'll never know how good it makes me feel to see this happen. I can't tell you how many times I've been tempted to move a thread into Adult, not because the poem belonged there, but because the conversations that followed did. It truly brightens my heart to know that others care about this stuff, too.

Thank you.

Perhaps if there is an offending reply, the moderators should have the right to delete it and advise the offending poet...or move it entirely into Adult...we have so few people that post there...though I think we have plenty of 'readers'..or if an offending reply is seen, the moderator is notified and the respondent is asked to edit the response so it's more appropriate...just some suggestions.

ROFL!!! Ah, dear Toe, even in a serious conversation, you crack me up! No, this is not your fault and my posting here was not to place blame. It has all been in fun and we have all participated. It's just that there's a time and a place, yanno? I guess I got a bee in my bonnet because someone told me to "tend my sheep" while responding to someone else's poem.....and then, when I had written a serious poem, came back again with another sheep remark, which was completely out of place and out of line. This made me realize that things are getting out of hand. Apparently some people can't do it in moderation so it's better not doing it at all. None of you fine people that have responded here have offended me, I assure you.

Poet deVine, there is no "perhaps" and no "should have the right". Until it is taken from me, I DO have the power to delete.

Balladeer: hmmmmm, you said and I quote..

"This made me realize that things are getting out of hand. Apparently some people can't do it in moderation so it's better not doing it at all"

Quite right, if you're going to do it, make sure it's in excess...oooops...sorry, my humour, can't keep a good lady down for long..*g*

ps: Forgive me?

My apologies, Balladeer, and I totally agree with the points you've laid here before us. Will certainly be more careful in the future.

Was that all sexual innuendo? I had no idea.
Shows how naive I am. It was over my head! I'm glad to see it gone. 'Open' should be just that, 'Open to everyone' with not a hint of anything inappropriate for any age group or sensitivity level. Thanks for clearing this up.

I also agree Balladeer. I don't think I have made any out of place comments...but I could be mistaken. I have just figured out some of the references mentioned here. Call me blonde or just a newbie. LOL.

I too will keep my big mouth in Adult when it comes to stuff like this. I'm sorry if I offended anyone.
