Inhaling now's air
dungeoned lungs long
hidden by fear;
     of offending,
     of examination,
     of failure,
gather to free a voice.

A waterwheel heart
churns the depths,
uplifts dripping
     desires,
     disenchantments,
     discordant notes,
draughts a rising voice.

As a geyser defying gravity
a funneled throat
long constricted;
     in angst,
     in anger
     throttled truth,
flues to vent voice.

A gate of porcelain teeth,
when clasped a warning,
in smile a shield,
     inhibits egress,
     impedes entry,
     implodes emotion,
unlocks an unheard voice.

An unflexed tongue
long caged a
dark delinquent;
     in stifled silence,
     in mumbled murk,
     a muffled muse
directs the wind in words.

And peering eyes
finely focused
to magical screens
    squinting
    seeking
    smiling
find fresh writ verses
