palm springs on the weekend during the week
spring break at the retirement home
where they blame the wrinkles on the sun

and say the more you got the better the chances
of getting one of those for an hour some night
and waking up a winner once the memory is gone

everyday is good at the terezza for brunch or lunch
the mist spray cools the wet shirt hoodoos
in paradigm of skin and capacious tan with color

to cover what is not broken or fixed
only cracked or bent that way on purpose
when they serve margaritas to the blind men

with ubiquitous diamonds and hundred dollar gloves
that stick to bare hips and leave dollar sighs above
and to the golfer with a limp, distention and a jag

must be a daughter on his arm, or bane on half shell
since daughters don't usually touch there
when daddy's tells jokes about hot sauce or hetrodox

or ice cream cone licks that take the limp away
and leave green in her wallet and a caddy,
she got by legerdemain and daddy a week ago

a caddy that is just a chevy to the dollar guys
the valet wouldn’t borrow it for a spin or sin
just parks it out back in the sun by the lincoln

and leaves the shade and the view by the door
for some not dead yet infernal and his occasional
date with the bentley and a garage in beverly hills

I wish I could see things through your eyes for a day... your poetry gives me a glimpse, and that is what makes it so fantastic.

DS

Sometimes you see far to well to where pretty isn't always what it seems.  Palm Springs is just as you say, and more.  Much enjoyed the look through your eyes.

I believe I have seen this same thing in other places... behind the facade lies the shallow and the struggles. Different struggles for some, but just as cheap... just as hard....

enjoyed

You see a lot through your eyes Dark, very nicely done. Many people wouldn't see what you see, just what they want to see. I think you see the truth. great write. floria
