This is a what if tale. What if Marion sent Honoria back to Charlie after his adventures in Prague led him skipping all about the world. Its an asignment for class and this is my first draft.

Honoria!

My maid, Marion,
I miss her so.
She sent me stamped from gay Pari
but I became a trunk
with the marks of a well worn leather.

Sorry Charlie,
daddy dads,
there’s no net in the sea…

no net in the sea…

Where neon gaslights flicker once
then fade,
in the darkness dies a queen.
But boom or crash

I’ll live on,

bull or bear

I’ll go on.

But you! No, not you!
You phantom father!

…there’s no net in the sea

Sorry Charlie (daddy…dads),
conjugal visits
do not mean.
there’s room at the inn.

I’ve been stamped so many times

Fragile,
Undeliverable,
Return Postage Unpaid.

Maid Marion
and her mock sensitivity,
she had the chance
but ghosts returned
to befall my Daddy’s
haunted path.

And mummy
in her ancient tomb
never cared for me?
That’s what slurred/
dripped from Marion’s mouth!

Reclaim your honor Charlie Wales,
I’ve been following your footsteps
for a long long time
my past and present…
dans chaque lit, un home m’aura*
You must excuse my borrowed French.

*In every bed, a man will have me

This is a pretty interesting 'what if'... It sounds to me like you're enjoying this poetry class, m'friend... I'm not sure what the assignment was here, so it's not easy to comment about your success in that light.. But I truly enjoyed the poem in its own right...

Hey Nettles...F. Scott would be quite proud!  The Charlie Wales idea is cool, and so are the maid, Maid ideas.  i like it.
