Summer made a welcome return
On this flawless Saturday
A touch of Indian Summer
Had produced this spectacular day

Not willing to waste a moment
I grabbed my pen and went outside
Inspired by the beautiful weather
My thoughts I could no longer hide

The warm wind welcomed and embraced me
As it delicately brushed my skin
This day a picture of perfection
To feel this good must surely be a sin

The sun is becoming much hotter
So I move my chair into the shade
I am completely surrounded by beauty
Within this garden I have made

My bouganvillia is simply stunning
And there are some roses still in bloom
If my bird of paradise tree grows much higher
It might very well reach the moon

The blue butterfly bush is exquisite
As it dances in the breeze
Along the side fence climbs jasmine
It's fragrance always makes me sneeze

The fuschia hangs like a pendulum
It's colors are magenta pink and white
The flowers dance like ballerinas
Affording me such wonder and delight

Right now I'm totally relaxed
And my cares have drifted away
I feel I've made the most of
This spectacular sunny day
