freeway in california
dark veins of an old womans leg
vulgar lines between the wrinkles
of coastal mountains

scars from quaking moments
when this end of mexico
moved to fast getting out of bed

and flacid flesh collided
with grinding bones
northridge noise earth belch moans

her valleys were bedridden
for months
but the surgeons secured
her joints

didn't take time for pretty
not at her age
hollywood gods don't touch
or even look anymore

she wishes gable and hughs
were still around
and all of their friends
that used to take her

to the beach on sundays

Dark,
Well I don't know the freeway but I can clearly see the images.

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown

DS

I know this well...my home lies against the San Gabriel Mountains..quite near the great fault that may some day give me ocean front property. You painted some pretty stark images..yet, there is still beauty here, despite all the parking lots. As always your writing, so good!

I've been to Disneyland once when I was 13.....that is it for getting down to SoCal for me so far....well Fresno isn't really SoCal to me, but other than that, I just go by the pics your words draw for me besides NorCal is so much nicer

Funny, you don't look like a Lilliputian. Enjoyed the woven image, Dark.
