Wintertree

How beautiful you are
silhouetted against the cold grey sky

how graceful your sturdy limbs appear
as you stand so proudly in the cold wind
bearing the icy weight of winter
upon your strong shoulders

only just weeks ago
you danced so happily
in the gentle Autumn breeze

a sight to behold
showing off your dappled crimson finery

so hard to believe
how very soon
you will be outfitted
in the verdant hues of spring

becoming a shady refuge from summer's sizzle
chipmunks frolicking happily at your feet
birds busily nesting in the fullness
of your leafy crown

always beautiful
yet ever changing

another year
a new season
softly ensconsed in nature's reason

Thanks so much, Victoria...
Spring was supposed to have been here last week, but we still have a few patches of snow on the ground in our front yard.
On Wednesday, we had to drive to Ann Arbor in a blinding snowstorm....
I guess they call this spring......in Michigan
loads of big huggggsssss!

Lyra, this is truly a beautiful piece.  We got that snowstorm as well last week but most of it has melted now.  You know what they say about the weather in Michigan and over the border as well...'if you don't like the weather, wait 5 minutes.'
Hugs, and be well!

(smiles) Nope, it has actually been so very warm up here lately, if you were here, you'd be amazed at how the temperatures can change in an instant, one day it can be as cold as 35 degrees, and the next day, it can climb up to 75 degrees! (giggles) I was walking around in Boulder Wednesday and it felt just like walking in a hot springs! (smiles) Thanks for asking, sweet friend, how is it up there in Michigan? (kiss on cheek)

Thanks Nancy...It rained today, and that melted most of the snow except for the one little dirty patch sitting right in the middle of our front yard...
I hate when the snow is so dirty at the end of winter...Wouldn't it be nice if it always stayed fresh and clean as the day it fell.

Thanks for replying again, Noah...
Colorado sounds like an absolutely gorgeous place to live.
Michigan is nice also, but probably not as spectacular as Colorado, although up north it is unbelievably beautiful.
As far as our weather...it hasn't been as cold or as warm as yours...but it has varied quite a bit during the past 2 weeks.
It feels like winter one day and spring the next...but I guess thats pretty normal March weather anywhere....... ~hugs~

Lyra,
you paint winter like the ice queen and when springtime comes, through your write I yearn to be young. **Hugs** lovely lady.
