I weep
Thinking of the rivers,
Their mist sweeping
So swiftly through my life
How they sometimes
Refigure and conceal
The losses of life and
The mistakes made so
Often

I have touched your heart
In so many different ways
From different angles,
Still I seek to touch you,
The real bend of souls that
We carry together, but only
Once

Seemingly I find
Strength in the smallest
Of stones and drifting wood,
Worn and sometimes smoothed
Settling over and upon
The dreams of time
Where, after storms
They are seen in true
Color

I remember your eyes,
The way you looked
That Saturday sitting
So silently under the tree
Fingers dancing in the dirt
I longed to know your thoughts
But you couldn’t find the words
To release the emotion you felt
How I could’ve guessed, yet,
The stranger was gathering in your
Eyes; and the distance
I felt sitting next to you

Pausing thoughts

I wished for rain
A down pour of tears
Falling from an endless sky
To rebirth my heart, like
A painting that could
Haunt your nights
From the ever present shadows
And return you in one piece

I closed my eyes and fell
Back into you

The night will be a long time
Coming
Then, maybe, from the river of life
We can drink again
Together

I wait for you

Wait only for one who drinks of you, and not with you.

Thank you.

Lauren,
May you be flooded with all you deserve. In the mean time it is a privelege to share your expression of heart and desire in poetic form that tells such deep truths.

Lauren,

This is so beautiful!  I can't believe I wasted so much time not reading your work. I'm going to have to take a trip through archives tomorrow

"The stranger was gathering in your eyes"

I particularly like that line a great deal. I think we've all both seen and have been that stranger from time to time.  Most wonderful work, my friend. *hugs*

This river flows into a sea somewhere, perhaps the Oceans of Time.  And just how long can someone tread water anyway?  I prefer to swim the river rather than sip from it!

Lauren, you write beautifully, though sadly. I wish I could use a bit of magic and make everything just the way you would like it. I can't. All I can do is appreciate your wonderful gift of poetry shared with us, as you write about things just the way they  are. And assure you that you are still deeply loved by all of your friends, including me. God bless you abundantly.

Wow...I believe you have become my favorite poet on this site.

This is very good FV...it reminded me of many things, such as a movie I seen and a song that I know of...and some personal experiences of my own.

thank you for sharing, greeneyes.

As much as I like this whole poem, the last line was so strong..I will wait for you forever.
I feel that way all the time. But what do you do if they don't want you to wait?
I haven't answered that one yet.
Nice work, Lauren.

ok. . . how did I miss this one??

this is amazing. . . I find that I'm running out of words to describe the feelings and the emotions that flow from you like this water. . . remember to drink deeply. . .and to let the flow over you. . .

well done my friend. . .
