Listening to every heart

~*~
Kansas is an odd place

where else can you find seagulls
massing
over March green
that doesn’t move

They come in with the gulf stream
calling Kansas home [again], then
take thoughts away
back to the sea
and you wonder why
shells are found
in Kansas

The gulls come home,
like their ancestors,
when this vast              was under water

How easy to see Kansas again
when someone talks to you
of Dorothy
or Toto

How easy it is to think it just
one way
flat
black and white
dust
and tornadoes

They don’t see vast swellings
of land
nor blowing
of wind

Which is easy to miss
if you are not looking
or feeling

I can create the wind
I can blow
and you would hear

Kansas

But only if I am right by your ear

would you feel it

Where the waving wheat can sure smell sweet ...
Wait!
oh, that's not Kansas, is it?

(smiles) Awwwwwww, I have been through Kansas before, sweet friend, it is so beautiful and mysterious indeed and I love hearing the wind rustling through my ears and rocking the sunflowers! (sigh) This is gorgeous, sweet friend, I love it! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Karilea, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

This makes me want to visit, but NOT during tornado season.     I'm sure Kansas is a wonderful place and I'm glad to know you like it so much there.  As for me, I'll never move away from the ocean again.     Nice one, Karilea!

Stars will shine when I am gone
Earth will spin on as before
Gulls still race along the shore
Morning star, still kiss the dawn

Ah Karilea you have given me a case of wanderlust tonight!  Now...if I can just find my ruby slippers...perhaps ToTo carried them off.  Is it true you have a name for the wind? Mariah, I believe?  Perhaps I shall just have to come visit one day.  Excellent write my poetess friend!

I will never look at Kansas in quite the same way again, Karilea...

Thanks for the beautifully written geology lesson...I never knew about the seagulls and the shells in Kansas.

Well ... Kansas must be the queen of tickle and the lord of smiles
because this just brought a smile that only lives in soft whispers, from a gentle breath of sunshine
